There are five more books in this series, so there goes the next two weeks of my life. It's mostly Tobey's story, told in her voice and all that wonderfully period lingo ;- Reading this reminded me of watching an episode of a s family sitcom, where you know there will a few "crises" but all resolved happily by the end. The alligator goes into town to deliver the warning, gives it to a little boy who is not afraid, and wins some kind of medal for saving the town. She was an icon and a treasure and every other overused cliche about writers who are larger than life — except of course in her case it was all true. Jeremy in the Wind I'm looking for information on a short story called "Jeremy in the Wind", about a live scarecrow in spite of the subject, it wasn't a children's story, but more of a genuine horror story. I cannot wait until my own daughter is older and I can share this book with her. I believe that Toni Morrison said after Paradise came out that it would have been a better book if it had been edited.

The language of the Various is quite old fashioned with some made up words, which makes them difficult to understand at times, but I got used to that over the course of the book and I actually thought that was a nice touch. Yet, most importantly, The Other Alice explored the different effects that stories can have on people. So began a romance that would be tested by the often unkind scrutiny of their school and friends. What a delightful YA novel from the s! But don't dance with your eyes closed for longer than is proper! The one thing which bothered me was how the novel was structured. Makes sense since the book starts off with Christmas. She is at the centre of a love story set on a stud farm in the fictitious Notts village of Oakleigh, where her passion in life is horses and riding. Seems people either loved it or not.
